We invite you to join us this Sunday as we gather to worship the God of grace and glory.
We understand that being new can be an intimidating experience. We hope to put those feelings at ease by answering a few common questions you may have before you visit.
What time are your services?
We have Sunday School classes for all ages beginning at 9:00 am. Our morning worship service begins at 10:15 am, and our Sunday evening service begins at 5:30 p.m.
We are located at 2 Woodham Avenue, Fort Walton Beach, Florida, 32547
What does the church believe?
Westminster is a conservative, evangelical, and Reformed church. We believe the Bible is the living and active Word of God, that all men are born dead in sin and without hope of salvation apart from the sovereign grace of God in Jesus Christ. To learn more about our beliefs you can click here.
What should I expect in the worship service?
At Westminster we believe that the gospel should shape our worship service. This means that worship should lead us into a fresh encounter with God's majesty that humbles us, leads us to repentance, and then reassures us of the abundant grace of God in the person of Jesus Christ. In order for that to happen we believe that worship services must be saturated with Bible. We sing the Bible, read the Bible, pray the Bible, preach the Bible, and see the Bible (in the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper).
What is the preaching like?
Our regular pattern is to preach verse by verse through books of the Bible. Our pastors seek to faithfully explain the meaning of the text and make appropriate application so we might know how to respond to God's Word. The preaching at Westminster seeks to be God-exalting, Christ-centered, and Spirit-filled.
What kind of music do you have?
Music is a glorious gift from God and we strive to employ that gift as we sing His praises. We believe that the songs we sing in public worship must be theologically accurate and significant. In addition, because we emphasize congregational singing, the tunes we use must be singable by the congregation and not just written for a solo voice. To that end, we strive to use the best songs and music from throughout church history. We sing psalms and hymns from centuries past as well as the best of modern hymns and songs. We use a variety of instruments to accompany our singing.
What about my children?
We provide a clean and safe nursery where loving childcare is provided for children up to three years old during Sunday School and both worship services. We also have Sunday School classes for children of all ages. We encourage parents to have their children in worship because we believe that God works by His Word and Spirit in their hearts from an early age. Even if they cannot fully understand or articulate the rich truths they are learning it doesn't mean God's Word is ineffective. If your child gets restless we have a cry room in the back of the sanctuary or an empty choir room in the hall behind the sanctuary.
